Harvey Mudd’s Capstone Experience
The mission at Harvey Mudd College is clear: educating students well versed in many areas to assume leadership with a clear understanding of the impact of their work on society. A cornerstone of our curriculum for more than 50 years, the 临床项目 pioneered collaboration between education and industry to help fulfill this mission.

In 2023–2024, Harvey Mudd College is launching the 气候诊所 in order to better equip our students as scientists to pursue research and technology toward solutions to the threats posed to society as a result of changes in the earth’s climate.

In 2018, the College launched the Social Justice 诊所 to provide students the opportunity to work with organizations committed to environmental, social and educational justice.

诊所 engages juniors and seniors in solving real-world, technical problems for companies and organizations. Teams of 4-5 students complete computer science, 工程, 数学, 物理, or multidisciplinary projects as a capstone experience to their academic achievements. 诊所 is key to helping students see the impact of their work on society, as it moves their skills into applied situations with deliverables of value to sponsors.

诊所 Will Help L.A. Residents Monitor Air Quality
the Department of 数学 partnered with the Community Environmental Health Action Team (CEHAT) to provide data analysis and education about air quality and the impact on the health of residents in South Gate, a city 12 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.

An 工程 诊所 team data collection for a sleep study, which will collect data using external sensors from volunteers over two to three nights. The goal of the project is to develop more effective treatments for sleep apnea.
